Introduction
The Postgraduate Program in Vernacular Letters (PPGLEV), offered at Master’s and Doctoral levels, was created in 1970 and comprises three concentration areas: Portuguese Language, Brazilian Literature, Portuguese and African Literatures. PPGLEV aims at creating, developing and disseminating research studies on the Portuguese language and literatures written in Portuguese (in Brazil, Europe and Africa), as well as educating teachers, professors and researchers in this field. By educating professionals through the articulation of its academic and teaching activities, PPGLEV seeks to reach out both public and private educational institutions that offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees throughout the country.
